Lions Have Pre-Draft Visit Scheduled with QB Hendon Hooker
Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker is expected to meet with the Detroit Lions for a pre-draft visit next week.
According to NFL Media, Hooker is also set to meet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
During the pre-draft process, the talented quarterback has been climbing up most NFL teams' draft boards.
“This is a prospect that is considered to be climbing up draft boards a little bit," said ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. "There’s a potential he could go late in the first round. Teams are a bit torn on him. Some see him as more of a Day 2 prospect. A backup that could work his way into, maybe, low-end starter potential. But, others say that he’s got the big arm, he’s got the ability.”
Behind Lions quarterback Jared Goff, veteran backup Nate Sudfeld was brought back this offseason, after spending all of 2022 with Detroit.
It is expected the Lions will select another quarterback to join the QBs room, but it remains unclear where the front office would like to target a signal-caller in the upcoming draft.
Besides Hooker, the team has also expressed interest in Purdue quarterback Aidan O'Connell.
The Lions are also doing their due diligence meeting with several defensive prospects for official visits, including linebacker Drew Sanders. Sanders is scheduled to meet with Detroit's personnel department next week.
