53-Man Lions Roster Projection Week 3

Updated Lions roster projection after Week 1 of preseason.
In this story:

Here is the latest 53-man roster projection for the Detroit Lions, after three weeks of training camp.

There are a few changes from our last projection, as veteran running back Justin Jackson decided it was time to call it a career and informed the organization of his decision to retire.

Quarterbacks (2)

  • Jared Goff
  • Teddy Bridgewater
  • Hendon Hooker (Injured)

With a veteran of Teddy Bridgewater's caliber, it is likely going to signal the end of Sudfeld's tenure in Motown.

Running backs (4)

With Jackson retired, the competition for the third running back spot has heated up. Snell has experience playing special teams, but is barely hanging on to a spot. Meanwhile, Jermar Jefferson and Craig Reynolds will be competing hard to earn a roster spot.

Wide receivers (6)

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown
  • Marvin Jones Jr.
  • Josh Reynolds
  • Kalif Raymond
  • Maurice Alexander
  • Dylan Drummond
  • Jameson Williams (Suspended)

Denzel Mims did not have his best week of camp. With Alexander showcasing his return capabilities, he has worked his way into a roster spot.

Tight ends (3)

Offensive line (9)

  • Frank Ragnow
  • Halapoulivaati Vaitai
  • Jonah Jackson
  • Taylor Decker
  • Penei Sewell
  • Graham Glasgow
  • Colby Sorsdal
  • Kayode Awosika
  • Germain Ifedi

With a shaky performance against the Giants, Matt Nelson loses his roster spot to Germain Ifedi, who has displayed physicality and an imposing will all throughout training camp.
