Tracy Walker Cleared for Lions Training Camp

Safety Tracy Walker posts update on his return via social media.

Detroit Lions safety Tracy Walker is cleared medically to participate at training camp in late July.

After suffering a torn Achilles in a Week 3 road contest against the Minnesota Vikings, the talented safety went to work to return as soon as possible.

Walker, 28, regularly posted updates of his recovery all throughout the process.

"It feels great to be back," Walker told reporters at Lions minicamp. "I can't hide the emotions, you know? It's a blessing. I'm very excited. Honestly, I missed it. It's hard to explain. It was cool I got time to spend at home with my family but at the end of the day I missed ball. I missed coming out here being around my teammates and being the leader that I am."

Each athlete handles recovery from a serious injury differently.

Walker noted he was built differently, as he set the goal of returning by OTAs early in his recovery process.

Social media posts showed the veteran safety making cuts and running during workouts back in March.

While he did participate in walkthroughs at minicamp last week, he still was not cleared fully for action.

On social media, Walker let everyone know that he is now cleared to show up at the team's Allen Park facility to rejoin his teammates for training camp.

"Honestly, we just grinding. Being the best we can be," Walker said. "It's a great thing to be a part of. I'm excited for what we're going to do this year and like I said we're going to make a lot of noise this year."
