Lions Week 14 Rooting Guide
The Detroit Lions remain the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoff picture heading into Week 14.
With the San Francisco 49ers defeating the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday, the top seed remains in reach. The Lions and 49ers are tied with the same record, while the Eagles hold the top seed with just one fewer loss.
Given the parity of the NFL, any team could lose in any given week. Should the Lions win Sunday and the Eagles lose to the Cowboys, both teams would hold identical records.
The 49ers also currently sit at 9-3, and their defeat of the Eagles would be the determining factor if both teams finish with the same record. If there is a three-way tie and the Lions, too, finish with the same record, alternative tie breaking measures would be required.
The final five game stretch will be key for the Lions. They hold a three game lead in the NFC North, meaning two consecutive wins would put them in a position to clinch the division title in Week 16.
