Former Titans DT Teair Tart Could Make Sense for Ailing Lions Defense

Should the Lions acquire defensive tackle Teair Tart?
In this story:

Defensive tackle Teair Tart has likely appeared in his final game for the Tennessee Titans.

According to multiple reports, the 26-year-old has been released, after spending the first four seasons of his career in Tennessee

The Detroit Lions are making their push this month to secure as high of a playoff seeding as possible, and are overwhelming favorites to win the NFC North.

After making their final decision on Tart's future, the Titans added Quinton Bohanna and Keondre Coburn to provide additional depth along the defensive line.

Unfortunately, injuries and inconsistency have plagued Aaron Glenn's defense the past month of the season.

After going undrafted back in 2020, Tart acclimated well to the Titans' defensive system.

In 2022, Tart recorded 34 tackles, 1.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits.

Lions' Week 15 Rooting Guide

The talented defensive lineman has reportedly been unhappy about his contract situation. The Titans have been likely unwilling to commit a long-term contract extension, due to being unsatisfied with his attitude recently and his effort level.

His prowess as a run defender could make him an appealing option in Glenn's defense.

Detroit is going to be without nose tackle Alim McNeill for the foreseeable future, and has been cycling through multiple replacements in an attempt to stabilize the defensive line.

A motivated player that is seeking to perform at a high level, in order to secure their next contract, could aid the Lions in the postseason against powerhouse NFC teams like the Cowboys, the Eagles and the 49ers, which feature solid rushing attacks.
