Tracy Walker Hints at Departure in Emotional Social Media Post
Tracy Walker's time with the Detroit Lions is coming to an end.
After six seasons with the Lions, Walker hinted Tuesday that he will be parting ways with the organization this offseason. The veteran defensive back took to Instagram to thank the organization and its fans.
An ESPN report has since confirmed that Walker will be released by the Lions.
"Detroit, I want to thank you for welcoming me in as a rookie and accepting me as family.. I want to thank the Ford family for giving me the opportunity to be apart of something special over these last 6 years," Walker wrote on Instagram.
Walker played in 79 games for the Lions, starting in 43 contests over six seasons. Most recently, he played in 17 games, with six starts in 2023. However, he had been relegated to a healthy scratch in the postseason after the emergence of Ifeatu Melifonwu.
The veteran was due for a raise in 2024, as he was set to count $12.8 million against the cap. By releasing him, the Lions will save around $5.5 million in cap space.
"I want to thank my fans and supporters for always having my back through it all. I want to thank the city for holding it down for me. It was many ups and downs but that's life and life is 10% what happens to you, 90% how you respond. With that being said, the future is bright and TTIME is coming harder than ever for Year7..!! GOD BLESS TTIME OUT," Walker continued on social media.
In his career, Walker had 398 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and three interceptions.
