Podcast: What We Learned About Detroit Lions After Eight Games

New Bang The Table podcast recaps Lions first eight games.
In this story:

The Detroit Lions have started the 2023 season winning six of their first eight games.

A clear playoff team, Detroit enters the second half of the season with elevated goals and expectations.

In the first half of the season, we have learned several lessons about Dan Campbell's young squad.

Detroit is a team that is able to overcome adversity and setbacks, as the team rebounded from their two losses by winning their next game.

Despite all the injuries, the improved depth on the roster allowed the team to weather key injuries to starters and still win games.

Even though the team has a winning record, there are clear improvements that need to be made on both sides of the football.

Detroit's defensive line must continue to grow and improve at sacking the quarterback, as the pass-rush and execution against upper echelon teams could be more consistent.

In the red zone, Ben Johnson's offense must find more avenues to be creative and score more touchdowns, as opponents have been able to stifle drives in the red zone.

Among the biggest takeaways is the young 2023 draft class has the potential to contribute at a very high level, as Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs and Brian Branch have burst onto the scene and caught the attention of opposing defenses.

On the latest episode of Bang The Table, key lessons learned are discussed and explained in detail.
