Packers Announce Dates of Training Camp Practices

Mark your calendars for the start of Packers training camp and other key dates, including the two joint practices against the New England Patriots.
In this story:

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The first practice of the Green Bay Packers’ 2023 training camp will be held on July 26, coach Matt LaFleur announced before Wednesday’s final practice of minicamp.

On Friday, the team announced the dates for the rest of the training camp practices that will be open to the public.

“We know once we hit that point, it’s go time and you’ve got to be very deliberate with what we do and intentional about how we practice and how we’re trying to improve on a daily basis,” LaFleur said of the upcoming break. “So that [time] we are away from here, it’s a good chance for us to unwind and be with our families.”

Jordan Love and the quarterbacks, Lukas Van Ness and the rookies and injured players will report for camp on July 21, and everyone else will report on July 25 before hitting the practice field a day later.

“The urgency that we need to get ready for training camp is coming up fast,” Love said.

LaFleur cut the mandatory three-day minicamp to practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the team played paintball.

Even amid an offseason filled with changes, LaFleur likes where his team stands heading into its summer break.

“I thought we’ve had an outstanding offseason all in all,” he said. “We’re further ahead than I feel like we’ve really ever been here in terms of the conditioning standpoint. So, I’m happy with the progress that our guys have made. ...

“When they do get away from here, they’ve got to continue to work and put that work in and work on themselves, both physically and mentally.”

For LaFleur, the work really never ends.

“I always have my iPad on me,” he said. “I enjoy trying to read and try to think of new things that you might want to present to the team when we come back together. So, it’s not like you’re totally unplugging, but you are out of the building for the most part.”
