Ex Patriots Super Bowl Champion Apologizes, Disappears?
After posting a heartfelt apology last week for his actions during a troublesome and turbulent mental-health period of his life, former New England Patriots' Super Bowl champion Chandler Jones has disappeared.
At least from social media.
Jones' Twitter account - ChanJones55 - has been deleted, just days after he offered a long apology for his actions. His Instagram seems to have also been wiped.
“Over the past few months, I’ve been dealing with some personal matters, but I’m happy to share that I’m feeling much better now,” Jones wrote on Twitter Feb. 14. "I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family, friends and fans for your unwavering love and support. Additionally, I want to offer a sincere apology to anyone I may have unintentionally offended. Your understanding and support mean the world to me.”
Jones, 33, did not play football in 2023. In the second year of a three-year, $51 million contract, he left the Las Vegas Raiders during Labor Day Weekend after several bizarre social media posts. The Raiders placed him on the non-football illness list Sept. 20 and released him 10 days later after he was arrested for violating a domestic violence protective order.
He was arrested again in October for the same reason, and on Feb. 5, Jones entered a plea of not guilty to two charges of violating a protective order. He is due back in court March 4.
Jones, a 2012 first-round draft pick of the Pats who won a Super Bowl XLIX ring in Foxboro, suffered a downward spiral of life events that led him out of football, making outlandish claims on social media and seemingly dealing with police on a regular basis.
According to TMZ, Jones was involved in multiple encounters with police. He posted a video to his Instagram, showing several officers from the Maricopa County (Arizona) Sheriff's Office pulling up to a residence. In the footage, you can see Jones exchanging words with the officers, before one of them tells him, "Mr. Jones, we've got to talk about why we're here now."
Suddenly, the camera falls and Jones can be heard screaming. "Wait! No!"
You can hear in the clip officers trying to explain to him they're "there to help" ... before the video cuts out.
It remains unclear when the footage was captured, and what officers wanted with Jones. He then posted another video showing police questioning him about a fire he apparently was burning in his back yard.
'Y'all Pray for Me': Patriots Ex Chandler Jones Arrested Again
Jones was arrested twice in Las Vegas last Fall, both times for violations of a domestic violence temporary protection order. Last season he also posted on his social media threats against Raiders owner Mark Davis and then-coach Josh McDaniels and a video of himself crying after talking about the death of former Patriots' teammate Aaron Hernandez.
