Patriots Legend Nominating Logan Mankins For Hall of Fame
Though former New England Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia is scheduled to be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame, he believes Logan Mankins is also - perhaps even more so - deserving of the prestigious honor.
Mankins was a finalist for the 2023 Patriots Hall of Fame class, alongside Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells. However, in the fan vote, former Patriots linebacker and current Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel edged both of them.
After being drafted as the 32nd overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, Mankins spent a significant portion of his career with the Patriots from 2005-13. His remarkable tenure included seven Pro Bowl selections, one first-team All-Pro selection, and five second-team All-Pro honors.
ESPN recently highlighted the challenge Scarnecchia faces in accepting his own induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame, as he believes that the honor should rightfully go to his former player.
"Longtime Patriots assistant coach Dante Scarnecchia shared last week that he's having a tough time reconciling that former New England offensive lineman Logan Mankins isn't going in instead of him," ESPN writes. "In fact, Scarnecchia said he feels so strongly about Mankins that he says Mankins is Pro Football Hall of Fame worthy in his eyes."
There is no doubt about the impressive resume that Scarnecchia built during his tenure with the Patriots. Likewise, Mankins' career was also exceptional, as evidenced by his status as a finalist this season. Given his notable achievements, it shouldn't be long until he rightfully earns his place alongside Scarnecchia in the Patriots' Hall of Fame.
