WATCH: Judon Safety Sack Seals Patriots' 15-10 Win Over Jets

New England Patriots Matthew Judon continues to come up big for his team in clutch moments. He did so once again in their Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets.
In this story:

When a big play was needed most, New England Patriots Matthew Judon delivered. In the process, he may have helped to pull the Pats season off life support.

Clinging to a three-point lead late in the fourth quarter, Judon blasted through the Jets offensive line on third-and-15 from the Jets five-yard line to find quarterback Zach Wilson in the end zone. Judon took the third-year signal caller to the ground, earning the safety and extending the Pats lead to five points at 15-10.

Despite Wilson's last-second attempt at securing a Hail Mary win -- a pass which was nearly-deflected into Jets' receiver Randall Cobb's hands -- New England held on to earn the victory, and their first win of the season.

Thanks to a "Broadway Flop" by Cobb, the Jets thespian receiver, Pats cornerback Myles Bryant was whistled for a costly pass-interference call which gave New York a fresh set of downs at the goal line. Wilson and the Jets capped an 87-yard drive with a touchdown rush from fullback Nick Bawden. In the process, the Jets cut the Pats lead to 13-10.

The Patriots were hoping to avoid an 0-3 start for the first time since 2000, as they take on the Jets in Week 3 at MetLife Stadium.

The Patriots entered this week with 14 straight wins over the Jets, including series sweeps in each of the last seven seasons. The win streak is second in team history to the 15 straight wins the Patriots had over Buffalo (2003-10), and the seven straight series sweeps are the most in team history.

Despite rallying into the game's closing seconds for the second straight week, New England dropped its Week 2 matchup 24-17 to the Miami Dolphins in Foxboro. Following their surprising victory over the Buffalo Bills in their season-opener, the Jets fell 30-10 to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday.

Both reserve defender Daniel Ekuale (elbow) and interior defensive tackle Davon Godchaux (ankle) have left the game due to injury. The Patriots announced on Saturday that starting cornerback Jonathan Jones (ankle) and reserve offensive guard/tackle Sidy Sow (concussion) have been downgraded to out for this weekend's game.
