New England Patriots Fall to New York Giants 10-7: FULL Game Log

Keep track of the New England Patriots' Sunday afternoon slugfest against the New York Giants.

The New England Patriots and New York Giants will engage in what's anything but a Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium as part of Week 12 NFL action (1 p.m. ET, Fox). 

Back from their bye week after a loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany, the Patriots (2-8) will look to end a three-game losing streak against the equally woebegone Giants (3-8), who are coming off a rare victory over the Washington Commanders, completing a sweep of their yearly couple against the divisional rivals. 

Including the two Super Bowl matchups won by the Giants, this will be the 14th get-together between the Northeast rivals. The Patriots have won each of the last pair, including a 35-14 decision at Gillette Stadium in October 2019.  

Entering Week 12's Sunday action, the Patriots and Giants respectively hold the third and fifth picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. 

While almost fully removed from the AFC playoff picture, the Patriots do have a little something to play for come kickoff on Sunday: as they complete their annual interconference slate, New England faces its last chance to avoid an imperfect posting against NFC competition for the first time since 2000.

1st Quarter

The Patriots have won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. Chad Ryland's kickoff is a touchback.

After a four-yard pass to Wan'dale Robinson, Saquon Barkley breaks loose for a 14-yard gain and a first down.

It takes three plays for the Giants to get into New England territory as Tommy DeVito finds Jaylin Hyatt for a 29-yard gain to the 26. 

Former Giant Jabrill Peppers recovers a fumble on a botched handoff between DeVito and Robinson, getting the Patriots the ball on the New England 26 with 12:33 left in the opening period. 

Partly weighed down by a delay of game penalty, the Patriots go three-and-out on their opening drive.

Bryce Baringer's 53-yard punt goes to the 18. Former Patriot Gunner Olszewski takes it back six yards. Giants take over at their 24 with 10:44 left. 

Another DeVito to Hyatt hook-up gives the Giants an immediate first down, this one gaining 22. 

Peppers gets to his fellow New Jersey native DeVito for a sack, losing seven yards on the play.

The sack yields two DeVito incompletions, leading to a Giants punt. Jamie Gillan's 48-yard boot is muffed by Demario Douglas at the 13 but is taken by back seven yards. New England takes over with 9:10 left. 

On first down, Mac Jones finds DeVante Parker for a 19-yard gain, creating New England first first down of the game.

On a four-yard third down, Ezekiel Elliott's second effort on a short reception gets just enough for a first down, placing them at midfield.

A reception and rush for Rhamondre Stevenson total 10 yards, giving the Patriots another first down.

The Patriots only get three more yards on a Stevenson rush and punt after two Jones incompletions. The punt team came out on the field in lieu of a 55-yard field goal attempt and took a delay of game penalty.

The Giants declined the penalty, leading Baringer to punt from the Giants 37. The punt was downed by Brendan Schooler at the five. 4:54 left in the first. 

On a seven-yard second down, DeVito finds Darius Slayton for a seven-yard gain to the Giants' 18. 

The Giants get eight more yards but Christian Barmore knocks down DeVito's third down pass, forcing another punt. 

Gillan boots a 74-yard run that lands in the end zone for a touchback. Patriots at the 20 with 2:01 left in the first.

Two Stevenson runs total 12 yards and pick up a fresh set of downs

Jones is intercepted by Deonte Banks with three seconds left in the first quarter. Giants take over at their own 43. 

The Giants get into New England territory before the period ends, as Saquon Barkley goes 19 yards as time expires.

2nd Quarter

The Giants get three yards, with DeVito's third down pass knocked down by Peppers. The Giants offense briefly stays on on 4th-and-7 but they take a day of game penalty.

Gillan's punt is fair caught by Douglas at his 9. Patriots take over with 14:06 left in the half.

After a one-yard pass to Elliott and an overthrown attempt to Mike Gesicki, New England calls its first timeout with 13:20 left in the half. 

Elliott goes for eight, but stopped one yard short of the first. Another Baringer punt incoming.

Baringer's punt is touched by a Giant before it gets to Olszewski but the Giants recover. Giants at their 42 with 12:30 to go.

The Giants go three-and-out and gain just five yards. Douglas fair catches a punt a his own 16 but the Patriots are pushed back to the eight by an unnecessary roughness penalty on Keion White.

An eight-yard pass to Kayshonn Boutte and a 15-yard run up the middle for Stevenson sends the Patriots to the 31. 

On third down and five, Jones finds Douglas for a nine-yard gain to the New England 45.

Another pass to Douglas gains 14 and gets New England to the Giants' 41. 

On third-and-15, Jones finds Parker for a 17-yard gain, moving New England inside the Giants' 30. 

Pressured by Isaiah Simmons, Jones throws an interception, this one to Bobby Okereke. A 55-yard runback goes to the New England 26, where the Giants takeover with 4:27 left in the half. 

DeVito breaks a streak of five consecutive incompletions by Hyatt gets by JC Jackson for a 12-yard gain that puts the Giants in the red zone. 

Two-minute warning, Giants will have 3rd-and-10 at the New England 12. 

TOUCHDOWN GIANTS: New York breaks the scoreless stalemate as DeVito finds Isaiah Hodgins for a 12-yard scoring hook-up. Randy Bullock's extra point is good. 1:53 to go in the 2nd, Giants 7, Patriots 0

Ty Montgomery returns the ensuing kickoff to the 20. 

After an incompletion and a three-yard gain for Stevenson, the Giants use their first timeout at 1:37 in the 2nd. 

The Patriots also use a timeout at 1:37, their second.

Jones fumbles on a scramble for no gain but is ruled down. Giants use their second timeout at 1:28. 

A 54-yard punt is fair caught by Olszewski at the Giants 23 with 1:21 left in the half.

The Giants get a first down, but the drive fizzles at their 41, where the Patriots declined a holding penalty. 

The Gillan punt is fielded by Douglas out of bounds at his own 9. 34 seconds to go.

Stevenson goes 13 yards on New England's first play from scrimmage in the second half

On 3rd-and-13, Zappe finds Douglas for 12 yards. New England will go for it from the New York 38.

Stevenson earns a first down on a direct snap, getting to the 35. 

Another Zappe-to-Douglas hook-up works this time on third down, as they get nine yards to the New York 22. 

Zappe finds Tyquan Thornton for 15, giving New England 1st-and-goal at the 7.

On second down, Anfernee Jennings sacks DeVito for a loss of seven.

On 3rd-and-16, DeVito finds Hyatt for a gain of 41, and the Giants are back in New England territory. 

DeVito goes down again, this time brought down by White to set up another long third down.

DeVito gets to Daniel Bellinger, who gets 8 of the 20 necessary on third down.

On 3rd-and-8, Zappe finds Montgomery for what is originally ruled a first down, but the Giants challenge the call.

The call is overturned, and the Patriots face 4th and 1 at their own 39. 

At 0:59, New England leaves the offense on the field but calls its first timeout. 

New England opts to punt. Olszewski makes a fair catch at his 18. 

DeVito fumbles on a three-yard scramble but the potential turnover forced by Ja'Whaun Bentley is recovered by New York. 

The Giants' third quarter ends with a holding penalty against Bellinger. New York will have 2nd-and-17 at its own 12 to start the 4th.

Another Gillan punt is muffed by Douglas put it goes out of bounds at the 24, where the Patriots take over with 14:02 left. 

Zappe is intercepted by Xavier McKinney, who returns it to the New England 32. 

Three touches, two for Barkley, one for Matt Breida, put the Giants in the New England red zone. 

Hodgins is charged with a 10-yard holding penalty, clutching Jahlani Tavai. Giants pushed back to the New England 27.

The Giants only get back to the 24, forcing them to settle for a Bullock field goal.

Consecutive carries for Elliott total 11 yards and a first down.

Douglas (head), hurt on his last punt return is DOUBTFUL to return, per Shannon Spake of Fox Sports. 

On third down, Zappe is sacked by Jihad Wards, forcing the Patriots to punt from their 28 with under six minutes remaining.

The Baringer punt goes 50 yards and lands at the Giants' 22. 5:31 left in regulation.

On third down, New England earns a big sack of DeVito, earned by Deatrich Wise. Lawrence Guy is injured on the play. 

Miles Bryant returns the latest Gillan punt 12 yards to midfield. 3:15 left in the 4th.

Stevenson runs for six yards then no gain. Another Zappe is nearly intercepted by Okereke, which takes the game into the two-minute warning at 1:58. 

Zappe finds JuJu Smith-Schuster for a five-yard gain out of bounds to covert the fourth down. 

Thornton makes a diving catch for three yards and rolls out of bounds with 1:48 left.

Stevenson pounds forward for 13 yards up the middle, getting the Patriots to the Giants' 22

With the clock running, Zappe's pass intended for Smith-Schuster falls incomplete. 31 seconds left. 

A Zappe handoff to Thornton gains two yards. New England calls timeout with 5 seconds remaining with the intention of kicking a tying field goal

Ryland's 35-yard field goal is no good. Giants get the ball back with three seconds left, and they'll kneel out.
