Patriots' Matthew Judon Recruits All-Pro Bobby Wagner to New England

New England Patriots Pro Bowl edge rusher Matthew Judon took to social media to recruit Bobby Wagner.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams and NFL All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner agreed to "mutually part ways" this week. And with the 32-year-old back on the free agent market, one could only assume the New England Patriots may have a look at him.

But would it progress to anything other than just a look? Well, assuming that the Rams and Wagner parted ways after a tumultuous 5-12 season, maybe the All-Pro is dead set on playing for a team that is contending for the Super Bowl. If that is the case, then perhaps the Patriots wouldn't make sense for Wagner.

That idea hasn't stopped Patriots edge rusher Matthew Judon from recruiting the veteran linebacker to Foxboro. Judon retweeted a tweet from current Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs, who posted a picture of Wagner and himself when they were at practice together as Seahawks.

Judon quote tweeted it, saying, "This [is a] good photoshop. Do one with the Patriots next. With me [and] Bobby Wagner."

Despite Judon publicly trying to bring Wagner to Foxboro, signing Wagner may not make long-term sense for a team with several needs elsewhere. It has been well-documented that the Patriots need to target help at wide receiver and offensive line after both units struggled in 2022.

Yes, signing a potential future Hall of Fame linebacker would be an upgrade. Still, judging by the five-year $50 million contract Wagner received in Los Angeles, it would require a substantial long-term investment financially.

Besides, the Patriots seem to have a bright future at inside linebacker, with Ja'Whaun Bentley and Jahlani Tavai both at the age of 26 playing well in 2022.
