The Las Vegas Raiders have a big decision with safety Tre'von Moehrig this offseason.

Moehrig will be entering the fourth year of his $7.89-million rookie contract, and the Raiders will have to decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option, decline it, or extend him with what should be a big-time contract.

If Las Vegas chooses to pay for the 24-year-old safety, it would be well-earned.

Moehrig turned in his best season in 2023-24, totaling 83 combined tackles, one tackle for a loss, two sacks, eight passes defensed and three interceptions while starting in all 17 games. He recorded two 10-tackle games.

The Raiders signed Moehrig to that contract after selecting him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Moehrig would go on to be a big part of Las Vegas' run to the postseason that year, totaling 55 combined tackles, six passes defensed and an interception while starting every game.

After that strong rookie season, Moehrig got off to a slow start the next year, missing Weeks 2 and 3 because of a hip injury. He then made only one start in the next three games.

Ultimately, Moehrig finished the 2022 season with 55 combined tackles, two for losses, and five passes defensed.

It's safe to say a switch flipped in the 2023 offseason.

With veteran safety Marcus Epps facing one year left on his contract after a rather mediocre first season with the Silver and Black, Las Vegas should do what it can to ensure Moehrig is part of its secondary for years to come.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
