Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler continue to transfer former New England Patriots to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.

Along with the addition of former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer, the Raiders have brought aboard former New England wide receiver Danny Amendola as a coaching assistant and returners coach, according to the official Raiders website and NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Amendola played five seasons in New England, serving as a crucial piece in McDaniels' offense. He totaled 2,383 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while with the Patriots and was a part of two Super Bowl titles.

And Amendola was particularly praised for his playoff performances in New England, especially in the 2017-18 postseason when he logged 348 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including a 152-yard receiving outing in Super Bowl LII. He also recorded 78 receiving yards and a touchdown in New England's historic come-from-behind victory in Super Bowl LI the year before. That touchdown was his second in a Super Bowl, his first having come in Super Bowl XLIX two years before that.

In total, Amendola played 13 seasons in the NFL.

An undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech, the wideout had stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles before he got his first real shot with the St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams.

Amendola played four seasons with the Rams before his career with New England, having posted 1,726 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his 42 games (17 starts) in St. Louis.

He would wrap up his career with a one-year stint with the Miami Dolphins, a two-year tenure with the Detroit Lions, and a one-year stop with the Houston Texans.

Amendola ultimately finished his career with 6,212 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in 164 games. He announced his retirement in July of 2022.

In addition to joining McDaniels, the long-time NFL wide receiver will be reuniting with former Patriots teammates Jimmy Garoppolo, Chandler Jones, Phillip Dorsett, Brandon Bolden and the aforementioned Hoyer.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
