The Las Vegas Raiders are inching closer and closer to the new league year starting in March and the beginning of the free agency period.

This means they will soon be able to add free agents to their roster to get back to the playoffs. They will work on a plan at quarterback, but one area they should also heavily focus on improving is their offensive line.

The Raiders have six offensive linemen set to hit free agency, so they must address this position urgently. Whenever and wherever they find their next quarterback, they will want to keep him upright and protected in the pocket.

One player who could help the Raiders do just that is New York Jets guard Dan Feeney, who is coming off a great season with the resurgent Jets, and could immediately provide some help on the interior.

Look closely at Feeney’s career and see if he would fit in the Silver and Black.

Feeney was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers out of Indiana University. He appeared in 15 games that season and allowed only one sack. He had a sophomore slump in 2018, allowing eight sacks in 16 games.

After spending four years in Los Angeles, the Chargers decided not to re-sign Feeney, and he signed with the Jets. Feeney has played more of a rotational role with the Jets in the last two seasons, only playing 294 snaps in 33 appearances.

Feeney now hits the free agent market and could be a quality, plug-and-play signing for the Raiders. He is only 28 years old and could, at the very least, provide depth on Coach Josh McDaniels’ offensive line.

Due to his limited snaps over the last couple of seasons in New York, Feeney might not be very expensive. General Manager Dave Ziegler has a lot of money to work with this offseason, but it may be a worthwhile investment if he can get a lineman-like Dan Feeney on a cheaper contract.

The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. During that time, starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
