What CB Jakorian Bennett Can Bring to the Raiders
Like many other teams, the Las Vegas Raiders had to address key defensive positions during the NFL Draft. One of those key defensive positions for the Raiders was depth in defensive backs.
On the final day of the 2023 NFL Draft, The Las Vegas Raiders delivered by drafting Jakorian Bennett, a cornerback out of the University of Maryland.
What can Bennett bring to the Raiders' defense as a key defensive back? Jakorian Bennett is very fast. At the 2023 NFL Combine, Bennett ran a 4.30 in the 40-yard dash. Bennett's 40-yard dash time was the second fastest time among all defensive backs and the second fastest time recorded at the 2023 NFL Combine overall.
Bennett is coming off an extraordinary 2022 senior season in which he was awarded the 2022 Duke's Mayo Bowl MVP, 2022 PFF All-Bowl Team, and the Pro Football Focus Cornerback of the Week Award (9/7/22). Bennett was also a 2022 Preseason Athlon Sports & Phil Steele Second Team All-Big Ten selection.
Bennett played a total of 27 games at Maryland. He had 55 non-assisted tackles at his time with the Terrapins, 69 total tackles, and four interceptions--one pick during the 2021 season and three during the 2022 season. Bennet also had 26 passes defended during his college career at Maryland.
