Kolton Miller Sets the Tone for Raiders' Offensive Line
The Las Vegas Raiders know their offensive line play needs to improve going into the 2023 season, as the AFC West features several defensive players who can cause them problems.
The longest-tenured Raider on the offensive line is left tackle Kolton Miller, who is entering his sixth season in the league. The 27-year-old’s voice carries a lot of weight in the locker room as a player who has been with the team for a significant amount of time.
The Raiders brought in Jimmy Garoppolo to be their starting quarterback this season and drafted Aidan O’Connell in the fifth round to develop behind him.
The Raiders’ offensive line will need to protect their quarterbacks, as Garoppolo is a player who has suffered several injuries, and O’Connell is a rookie with no experience in Coach Josh McDaniels’ system.
Miller played 1,035 snaps last season, all at left tackle. He allowed four sacks and 33 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. Miller is a player who has improved considerably each season of his career.
Being the most experienced offensive lineman on the team as a Raider, Miller has an opportunity to be a vocal leader in the locker room and a leader on the field with his play. He can set the example for the Silver and Black’s offensive line unit, which has a chance to improve drastically in its second year under McDaniels.
It starts with Kolton Miller for the Raiders’ offensive line, and if he steps up as the leader he has the potential to be, he could be an anchor for a unit that needs one.
