Tre Tucker Adds Blazing Speed to Raiders' WR Room
Every NFL team needs a wide receiver with the speed to take the top off the defense.
That’s what the Las Vegas Raiders drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft in Tre Tucker. Tucker, who stands at 5-9 and weighs 182 pounds, ran a 4.4 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
In his final season at Cincinnati, Tucker caught 52 passes for 672 yards and three touchdowns. He was the second receiving option to Tyler Scott, who was drafted by the Chicago Bears this year.
In the three games in which Tucker caught a touchdown pass, he averaged at least 18 yards per catch. The Raiders added a dynamic playmaker to their wide receiver room, a unit that already has a good number of those.
Tucker will likely slot in as the third or fourth wide receiver on the depth chart for the Raiders, and each receiver on the roster provides their own skill set for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Davante Adams does a bit of everything, Hunter Renfrow is the reliable possession receiver, and Jakobi Meyers is the complimentary route running expert.
Tre Tucker comes in as a receiver who can use his speed to run past his defender and catch a long ball from Garoppolo. In the third round, the Raiders found another element to their wide receiver room that defenses have to account for, making it all that more dangerous.
