Aaron Donald Reacts to Los Angeles Rams' Blowout Win, Kobie Turner's Sacks

The Los Angeles Rams once again blew out the Arizona Cardinals, partly due to the strength of the pass rush. Superstar lineman Aaron Donald reacted to the unit's success.

Entering Week 12, the Los Angeles Rams had won eight consecutive games while visiting the Arizona Cardinals. That trend continued on Sunday, when Los Angeles blew out its NFC West rival for the second time this season, this time by a score of 37-14.

Much like the Week 6 matchup, running back Kyren Williams stole the show. Williams ran for 158 yards in the initial victory but landed on injured reserve after the game’s conclusion. He would return, healthy, on Sunday to the tune of 200 more scrimmage yards.

However, he wasn’t alone in the Rams’ dominant showing. The defense once again shut down a division rival, keeping playoff hopes alive, even if by a string. Against dynamic quarterback Kyler Murray, Los Angeles was able to keep him in the pocket and under duress, leading to a pretty putrid offensive showing.

Defensive lineman Aaron Donald didn’t find himself in the traditional box score, logging just two quarterback hits on an otherwise empty stat sheet, but his linemates came to play. Young defensive tackle Kobie Turner found two sacks. Linebacker Michael Hoecht and defensive end Desjuan Johnson got in on the action, too.

In all, Murray was sacked four times and ran just once, scoring on a read-option from the two-yard line.

Donald reacted to the line’s success and how cool it was to see big days from his younger teammates.

“I just feel like a teammate that’s proud,” Donald said. “Like I said, to see where they came from, camp to where we’re at now, and the production they’re putting on film, it’s a lot to be excited about.

“They continue to do it, continue to get better. They’ve been doing that week in and week out. So we just gotta keep building off of there.”

It was certainly an encouraging outing, especially since Arizona had proven to be at the very least a nuisance with a healthy Murray and running back James Conner. Neither made much of an impact on Sunday. Murray averaged under six yards per attempt through the air, and Conner racked up 10 total touches for 32 yards.

It was the second consecutive game Los Angeles held a leading rusher to fewer than 50 yards, and further proof that defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is doing more with what many would consider to be less.

“I think we were stout in the run game at times, we missed some tackles early,” Donald said. “Overall, I think we did good. Containing them, getting out there making them feel uncomfortable, and putting pressure on them.”

Murray had looked like his normal self in the first few games of his return from an ACL tear. In Week 12, however, he was noticeably conservative with his mobility. Whether this was a game-planning win from Morris, a physical ailment, or a talent discrepancy in the trenches can be difficult to untangle, but the Rams most definitely won at the line of scrimmage on Sunday.

It was a performance Donald could be proud of, even if he didn’t leave his fingerprints on this one.

The win puts Los Angeles at 5-6 with five to play, meaning the seventh seed in the NFC is still a possibility. A Week 13 date with the Cleveland Browns should grant more clarity on the short-term future in Inglewood.
