L.A. Heartbreakers: Lions End Rams Dream Run in Detroit
The Los Angeles Rams' magical run has come to an end.
Facing adversity throughout the night, just like they had all season long, the Rams were unable to persevere this time in their Sunday Night Football Wild Card matchup vs. the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, falling 24-23
Things did not get off to a great start for the Rams, who found themselves in an early hole after the Lions opened up the game with a touchdown drive on their first possession.
And before they knew it, the Rams found themselves down two scores, trailing 21-10 at one point in the second quarter.
However, that is when the Rams woke up on both sides of the ball, outscoring the Lions 13-3 throughout the rest of the night, with the game being decided after a controversial no-call on a possible defensive holding penalty, could have made the difference in the game.
In his return to Detroit - where he spent the first 12 years of his career - Stafford was welcomed with boos. However, he was able to turn that cold welcome into a vintage performance, completing 25 of 36 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns.
Stafford was also able to overcome extreme adversity in the injury department, after getting battered and bruised on multiple occasions throughout the night.
Rams QB Matthew Stafford Injured After Huge Hit vs. Lions
On the receiving end of Stafford's brilliant night was none other than his rookie sensation pass catcher Puka Nacua, who ended the night with nine catches for 181 yards and a touchdown.
Unfortunately for the Rams, it wasn't enough, as the Lions were able to run out the clock after converting a clutch third down from a Jared Goff pass.
Meanwhile, in the home matchup vs. an old team of his own, Goff was electric in the first half hitting on his first 10 passes and finishing the night completing 22 of 27 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown.
With the loss, the Rams' magical late-season run - in which they won seven of their last nine games - officially comes to an end, and they will move forward into the offseason looking to fill the holes in the roster that led to their downfall.
