Panthers Drawing Inspiration From Sean McVay's Rams Offense

The Carolina Panthers are taking notes from the Los Angeles Rams and Sean McVay's offense as they welcome in No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young
In this story:

Since becoming the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, Sean McVay has been a hugely-influential figure across the NFL. Not only has he produced four head coaches of his own, but his unprecedented success at such a young age has inspired other teams to look at younger options as well.

Of course, what makes McVay so successful is his offensive wizardry. The 37-year-old has tailored his offense to be as quarterback-friendly as possible, and it has worked wonders with both Jared Goff and now Matthew Stafford

Teams are still taking inspiration from McVay's offense, and the latest to do so is the Carolina Panthers. With a new head coach in Frank Reich and new quarterback in No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, it's only natural to help ease him in as much as possible. According to NFL Network analyst Cameron Wolfe, doing that involves taking notes from McVay and the Rams.

“They’re molding the schemes together, with the Rams and the Colts. With Frank Reich and what they were doing with Sean McVay,” Wolfe said. “So they’re trying to create a quarterback-friendly scheme for Bryce. Get a lot of motion, get a lot of pre-snap motion and on-snap motions. And some RPOs, as well, so that he can get the ball to those playmakers – be the point guard they drafted him to be.”

As a former quarterback himself, Reich knows the value of running a quarterback-friendly offense. And now with Young under center, he finally has another franchise quarterback that he was sorely missing throughout his time with the Indianapolis Colts. Incorporating some of McVay's tactics should only help the Panthers find success in the future.

It just goes to show how influential McVay still is in the NFL.
