Los Angeles Rams Defense Torched By Dallas Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb
The Los Angeles Rams were dismantled on both sides of the ball throughout their 43-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. However, Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb's torching of the Rams defense at all three levels stole the show.
The fourth-year receiver finished the game with his second-most targets (14) and tied for his most touchdowns (2), but set new personal records for (12) receptions and yards (158).
Going into Sunday, the Rams were 12th in the NFL in passing yards allowed, with 209 per game. Lamb alone accounted for over 75 percent of that average. However, the secondary, or at least the third level of the field, isn't the only group to blame.
Lamb recorded two receptions--the 22-yard touchdown and a 24-yarder--that were deep throws by quarterback Dak Prescott. Lamb's 10-yard score was a simple double move on Rams cornerback Derion Kendrick in the endzone.
Besides that, each of Lamb's receptions were short and over the middle of the field. Many of those catches resulted in a ton of yards after. Four of these plays resulted in gains of 17 (twice), 21 and 26. In other words, the Rams linebackers had trouble bringing Lamb down, as they slipped whenever he used his elite footwork.
The Rams pass-rush looked like it was in for a big day after logging four sacks in the first quarter. But, they were shutdown the rest of the game, as they never recorded another one. Prescott's time in the pocket allowed Lamb to complete his routes and evade the Rams defense over the middle and deep.
