UPSET ALERT? Los Angeles Rams to Surprise Detroit Lions in Playoffs, Analysts Predict

The Los Angeles Rams' upcoming game against the Detroit Lions looks like it could be one of the most exciting contests in the Wild Card round, as many are torn between who will come out on top.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report, a panel of eight of their analysts make the picks for who they think is going to advance to the divisional round, and most of their group has the Rams beating the Lions.

Six of the eight analysts picked the upset in Detroit, and the main reason cited is the experience that Matthew Stafford and the Rams have in the playoffs, and the lack thereof for the Lions.

The last time the Lions were in the playoffs was 2016, and they haven't won a game since 1991. Meanwhile, the Rams' last appearance in the postseason was just two years ago when they won Super Bowl LVI.

Despite the Lions being the favorite with the three-seed in the NFC, playoff experience will most definitely play a factor in the game, and the Rams dominate in that category.

"Both of these teams have no problem scoring points," Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport said. "Both have their issues defensively. Both have quarterbacks who have played in a Super Bowl. But the Rams have an edge at that position with Matthew Stafford, and if rookie tight end Sam LaPorta (knee) can't go Sunday night, it's a major blow for the Lions. Detroit had a great season. But it ends this week."

Kickoff is set for primetime on Sunday Night Football at 5:15 pm PT at Ford Field.
