Rams 'Dream Destination' For Trade of Star WR DeAndre Hopkins?`

Could the Rams take another big swing at a star wide receiver this offseason?
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams will be hoping for a big turnaround in 2023, after missing the playoffs in last season's Super Bowl defense with a 5-12 record.

One way for them to accomplish that turnaround would be to reload the offense with star power - particularly at wide receiver, where the Rams were extremely thin and lacking in explosive plays in 2022.

With that in mind, ESPN put together a list of 'dream destinations' for the NFL's top talent who could be on the move, with Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins being projected as an ideal fit with Los Angeles.

Says ESPN:

The Rams are on the hook for Allen Robinson II's contract through 2024. Given his underwhelming transition from Chicago, however, the Rams could try to make a play for a more proven vet with Super Bowl aspirations.

Hopkins has been minted as a rebound king, hushing doubters when he changed teams in 2020 and naysayers who thought he might be rusty entering Week 7 of 2022. Nuk could thrive as a physical outside presence, complementing Cooper Kupp in the slot. He might not make it through the season without an injury, but he'd be good for upward of eight looks per game until then.

So what's the rub?

Hopkins is currently owed more than $56 million over the next two seasons, making a potential trade very difficult.

Not to mention the contract of Allen Robinson, who as ESPN mentions is on contract through 2024 with LA.

With that said, however unlikely the scenario is, Hopkins would indeed be a massive upgrade for the Rams alongside Cooper Kupp, who is already one of the NFL's best receivers.

But with Hopkins, who is one of the best-contested catchers of the football in the league, occupying the outside and Tyler Higbee at tight end, the Rams would have arguably the best group of pass catchers in the NFL for Matthew Stafford to utilize.

Either way, it is certainly a fun idea to consider, even if it is what most would consider a 'pipe dream' scenario.
