Los Angeles Rams Open As Sizable Favorites Over Washington Commanders
After a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams now turn their attention to a home match against the other team from the Chesapeake Bay, the Washington Commanders.
While the Rams hit a bump in the road against the Ravens, it seems they have a good chance to get back in the win column against the Commanders. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, L.A. opened as a 6.5-point betting favorite over Washington.
It's not too hard to see why the line is so heavily in L.A.'s favor. The Rams had won three straight games heading into Sunday's game, with the last two coming in convincing fashion, and even though they lost on Sunday, they still went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the league for over 60 minutes.
Meanwhile, Washington is among the teams just waiting for the season to end. The Commanders are coming out of their bye week at 4-9 and riding a four-game losing streak, with their last two games being blowout losses to the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins. They already fired defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio after the Cowboys game, and coach Ron Rivera appears to be on borrowed time as well.
How Were Rams' Playoff Odds Affected By Loss to Baltimore?
It's been quite a while since L.A. and Washington have squared off. The most recent matchup came at FedEx Field on Oct. 11, 2020, when the Commanders were known as the Washington Football Team. L.A. won that matchup 30-10, but the game is perhaps more notable for being the grand return of former Washington quarterback Alex Smith, who suffered a potentially life-threatening leg injury nearly two years earlier.
The over/under for Sunday's game at SoFi Stadium is currently set at 48.5, with the money line odds sitting at -310 for the Rams and +250 for the Commanders.
