Rams' Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford: Back To 'Clicking' at Camp?
The connection between receiver Cooper Kupp and quarterback Matthew Stafford was instantaneous when the veteran signal-caller was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.
With Stafford now getting his first offseason work since 2021 at training camp, Kupp expressed that the chemistry between the two feels just like it did when they first became teammates.
“Yeah, that’s been kind of the weird but really cool thing,” Kupp said. “It’s kind of felt like that from the first time he was here in ‘21, you know? It was just like that OTAs was just kind of like it clicked and we came out after OTAs we were able to throw together a little bit in July and it just felt like first time back was like time was just right there."
In 2021, the two spent a significant amount of time together, forming one of the best connections in the NFL. Stafford played a vital role in elevating Kupp's career to new heights as he helped the receiver put together a triple-crown season, leading the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving touchdowns (16).
However, both Kupp and Stafford missed time last season due to injuries, resulting in a significant decline in Kupp's production compared to 2021. He managed to catch only 75 passes for 812 yards and six touchdowns.
As Kupp and Stafford embark on a new season, returning to their 2021 form will be critical for the Rams as they aspire to reach the postseason after failing to make it last year.
