The Los Angeles Rams have completely turned their season around, going from 3-6 to 8-7 and holding a playoff spot, and it's largely thanks to the play of quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford, 35, has been on a heater recently, playing some of the best football of his entire career. Over the past five games, he has thrown for 1,388 yards and 14 touchdowns with only one interception as the Rams have risen from the ashes in the playoff race.

Stafford and the Rams will look to stay hot, and potentially clinch a playoff spot, when they travel to face the New York Giants on New Year's Eve. Ahead of said game, Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale gave Stafford some love, saying the quarterback is playing at a "Hall of Fame level" and that he should be in the MVP race, alongside Baltimore Ravens signal-caller and current MVP favorite Lamar Jackson.

Stafford is well outside the MVP race, currently sitting at +150000 according to FanDuel Sportsbook. However, if he played this well earlier in the season, and the Rams picked up a couple extra wins along the way, he almost certainly would've been in the conversation.

Still, Stafford has definitely turned some heads recently. Considering he's coming off arguably the worst season of his career, and an injury-plagued one at that, his turnaround this year has been very impressive.

Even if the hardware isn't there, what Stafford has been doing over the past few weeks deserves a ton of credit, and Martindale is more than happy to give him that credit.
