Ex Rams CB Jalen Ramsey Claims Dolphins Secondary NFL's Best 'On Paper'
When the Los Angeles Rams were crowned Super Bowl champions, cornerback Jalen Ramsey was a key part of the equation.
Now, however, a new champion has lifted the Lombardi Trophy and Ramsey no longer calls Los Angeles home, after he was traded this offseason to the Miami Dolphins.
With Ramsey off to Miami, he joins a talented defensive backfield featuring cornerback Xavien Howard and safety Jevon Holland.
And with the talent the Dolphins boast in the secondary, Ramsey crowned them the NFL's best secondary when speaking to reporters on Thursday.
“I believe so. That’s just the type of energy I bring. That’s the confidence that I always have,” Ramsey said. “On paper, this is the best group that I’ve been a part of. And I feel like I’ve been a part of some good groups in Jacksonville and also in L.A. But on paper, I feel like this is the best one."
Ramsey has never been shy about being one of the more self-confident players in the NFL while consistently backing his claims up. In his last season as a Ram, he recorded 88 total tackles with four interceptions.
He now joins a secondary that held opponents to 234.8 yards per game through the air, with new corner partner Howard recording 45 tackles and an interception in 15 games while dealing with nagging injuries.
It isn't hard to see why Ramsey is so convinced that Miami's secondary as the best in the NFL, with the star power and depth the Dolphins feature being nothing to scoff at.
Of course, this is still all an "on paper" discussion - with the Dolphins' defense ready to prove Ramsey's claim correct.
