Who's Left on NFL Draft Board for Rams at No. 36?
The first round of the 2023 NFL Draft is officially in the books. Most teams got to pick on Thursday night, but some like the Los Angeles Rams will have to wait until Friday to join the fun.
While not having a first-round pick hurts, there is still plenty of talent on the board. Even some players who experts near-unanimously placed in the first round are still waiting for their names to be called. At No. 36 overall, the fifth pick in the second round, the Rams still have plenty of options to pick from.
First off, there's the elephant in the room. Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, who most had going in the top 10, is still available after the first round. Many have suggested the Rams could take a quarterback with Matthew Stafford nearing the end of his career, so it wouldn't be surprising to see them take Levis at No. 36 or even trade up for him.
L.A. also has plenty of needs to address aside from quarterback, with wide receiver, cornerback, edge rusher, and offensive line being some of the most notable.
At receiver, the two standouts remaining are Tennessee's Jaylin Hyatt and North Carolina's Josh Downs. Both appeared in the first round of some mocks and yet both are still on the board. Either one could make for a good complementary piece alongside Cooper Kupp.
At corner, Penn State's Joey Porter Jr. sticks out like a sore thumb. Porter, son of former NFL player Joey Porter, was a near-unanimous first-round pick in mocks but shockingly slid out of the first round. Other options include South Carolina's Cam Smith and Georgia's Kelee Ringo.
For edge rushers, Georgia Tech's Keion White and LSU's B.J. Ojulari are two of the best options remaining. Both players were widely seen as second-round picks, and the Rams could take one of them to fill a need.
Finally, for the offensive line, there are still plenty of options to pick from. For the interior, Florida's O'Cyrus Torrence, who many had going in the first round, is the clear standout. There aren't as many tackles available, but Ohio State's Dawned Jones and Syracuse's Matthew Bergeron are both solid prospects still on the board.
Of course, there's also the possibility of the Rams ignoring needs and going with a best-player available approach. Regardless of what they do, they'll have plenty of options to work with.
