Should Rams Trade Up in Draft to Pick Star Cornerback?

The Los Angeles Rams could use help with their passing defense, and they could get said help through the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Rams have not made a first-round pick in seven years, but maybe this year's upcoming NFL Draft is where that all changes.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report, they outlines what each NFL team's dream offseason trade scenario would be. And for the Rams, it would be trading up in the draft to get one of the top three available cornerbacks.

"In the past, Snead would have pursued a top free agent like Jaylon Johnson or traded for a star like Charvarius Ward. This year, he should prefer to target a young corner who can grow alongside players like Puka Nacua, Kobie Turner and Kyren Williams," said Bleacher Report. "However, the Rams can't expect one of the top three corners to fall to 19th overall. Trading up would be worth a Day 2 selection if it means adding a premium player on the back end of the defense."

The Bleacher Report Scouting Department gave a first-round grade to only three cornerbacks: Alabama's Kool-Aid McKinstry, Toledo's Quinyon Mitchell, and Alabama's Terrion Arnold.

How Should Rams Approach Filling Needs in Offseason?

If the Rams were to trade up to draft one of these players, it would add to the team's already impressive young core, and making the future even brighter. With that being said, the Rams have not made a first-round pick since 2016 when they selected Jared Goff.

Whatever the Rams decide to do, it will be in effort to make the playoffs again this upcoming season, as this past season proved that the team has the talent to contend right now.
