Los Angeles Rams Officially Activate Kyren Williams From IR

The Los Angeles Rams made a trio of roster moves on Saturday, with the most notable one being activating running back Kyren Williams from injured reserve.

All week long, the Los Angeles Rams have anticipated the return of running back Kyren Williams, who missed the past four games with an ankle injury.

On Saturday, that return became official as the Rams activated him from injured reserve, headlining a trio of roster moves.

A former fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame, Williams was emerging as a breakout star for L.A. prior to his injury. In the first six games of the season, he ran for 456 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry. In Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals, Williams had the best game of his young career with 158 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Unfortunately, that was also the same game Williams suffered his injury. With him returning on Sunday against the Cardinals once again, the Rams are expecting a big boost to their offense.

"He's got a play energy and he's got just such a good charisma and presence," coach Sean McVay told reporters Friday. "That play energy I think is one of the better ways that I could describe it in terms of he elevates guys around him, he's so engaged, he's so coachable. This is a guy that...he loves the game. He loves to compete. I think you guys have seen that when he's out there and his teammates love playing with him and I thought he's had a really good week and it's good to be able to get him back.”

The other two moves the Rams were much less notable. First, they also activated rookie defensive back Jason Taylor II, who only appeared in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, from IR. Second, they waived offensive lineman Zachary Thomas, who has appeared in three games over the past two seasons.

The Rams will take on the Cardinals for the second time this season at State Farm Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
