Rams Star Puka Nacua Reveals Thoughts on Offensive Rookie of the Year Chances
The NFL Honors show is being held on Thursday night, and Los Angeles Rams rookie Puka Nacua is hoping to cement his name in the history books.
The 22-year-old receiver was one of five players nominated for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Houston Texans star C.J. Stroud is the favorite to win the award, as most think that it is a given that a quarterback would win.
But Nacua doesn't think so and talked more about it in an interview with Rams Wire.
"I don’t necessarily feel it’s a quarterback award," Nacua said. "I know C.J. and I love watching him ball... I’m excited either way. To be in that conversation as a wide receiver, the year I had, it was a blessing no matter what. I had a lot of fun and I’m not really too worried about it."
Both Nacua and Stroud make strong cases for the award, as they both were a key part of their teams making the playoffs.
Rams Offseason: 5 Biggest Needs
Stroud led the Texans from a season where they finished with three wins to winning the first round of this year's playoffs. He also set the rookie record for passing yards in a game with 470 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As for Nacua, he was one of the biggest factors in the Rams making the playoffs this season after having the worst record by a defending Super Bowl champion last season. He also set the rookie record for receptions and yards in a single season.
Whether Stroud or Nacua wins the award, it will go to a deserving player, as both are the future of their respective franchises. The winner will be announced tonight on NFL Honors night at 9 p.m. ET.
