Rams QB Matthew Stafford 'Feels Good' As Offseason Workouts Begin

Staying healthy will be one of the big goals for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford after a tough 2022 season.

The Los Angeles Rams arrived at the team's facilities on Monday for the first official day of offseason workouts. After a disappointing defense of Super Bowl LVI, finishing with a 5-12 record, the page is being turned to the upcoming season.

Among the first players to return to workouts was quarterback Matthew Stafford who endured a rough 2022 season. The 35-year-old quarterback suffered multiple injuries throughout the season before a spinal contusion sidelined him permanently.

During his first interview with the media since the conclusion of last season, Stafford confirmed an earlier set of comments from head coach Sean McVay which revealed that he was ready to go for the offseason program.

“I'm not going to talk too much about what used to be or how I used to feel or anything like that," Stafford said. "All I know is that I put a lot of work and time into trying to feel as good as I can for right now. I do feel about as good as I can for right now and it's exciting for me. So it was a lot of hard work, some tough times, and (I’m) just excited to be where I am right now.”

A fully healthy Stafford is good news for the Rams' offense after an elbow injury limited him throughout last fall. Reports have since suffered that he could "barely throw" the football, which fueled the whispers of retirement.

But it wasn't just Stafford who suffered from the injury bug, as he also played behind an offensive line that was in a constant shuffle. While his top target Cooper Kupp also went down with an injury midseason.

Yet, with the retirement rumors put to bed, at least for now, Stafford will look to get back into the form that helped the Rams reach the Super Bowl in 2021.
