Los Angeles Rams Receive Positive Review in NFL Power Rankings Despite Loss to Baltimore Ravens
The Los Angeles Rams are licking their wounds after a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, and as they focus on securing an NFC playoff spot, their standing in the league pecking order continues to shift.
After the Week 14 loss, the Rams came in at No. 17 in the latest NFL power rankings from Sports Illustrated, entering the list one spot ahead of the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. You can view an excerpt from the piece below.
A big performance by the Rams this weekend, who showed just how tough they are going to be if they can slip into the postseason. On display was the total suite of run plays the Rams have at their disposal, even without a full complement of backs. Consequently, Matthew Stafford also looks nearly flawless.
This is a positive diagnosis following a loss, right? It seems that even though the Rams were unable to escape Baltimore with a win, the fact that they pushed the game down to the wire and had chances to win has resonated within the confines of the league.
Part of this boost has come from an offensive resurgence in Los Angeles behind a now-healthy quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Kyren Williams. Stafford threw for 294 yards and three scores in Sunday's loss, and Williams accounted for 114 rushing yards on 25 carries. In recent weeks, this Rams offense appears to be one of the most balanced in the NFL.

For now, however, the Rams are still outside of the current NFC playoff picture, coming in at No. 8 in that list and one spot outside the field, if the season ended today. L.A. has a chance to rack up some wins over the next three weeks before a massive road showdown against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18.
The Rams are scheduled to host the Washington Commanders this Sunday, and kickoff is slated for 1:05 p.m. PT. The game will be televised on CBS.
