Rams WR Cooper Kupp: 'I'm Playing' In Week 1 vs. Seahawks
It appears that the Los Angeles Rams are set to have their top offensive weapon, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, back into the lineup for their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.
At least according to Kupp himself.
"I don't plan on playing on Saturday (against the Broncos)," he said. "If it was a game, yeah. Game one, I'm playing."
Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who has been absent for the majority of training camp with a hamstring injury, returned to practice last week.
And while he won't play in the preseason finale on Saturday, he is going through the mental reps to try to prepare himself for his return to the field.
"Being able to be out there and see things live and going through those reps and feeling them out from day one to two to three to four now, the game just slows down," Kupp said. "So that's why I'm saying, going out there Week 1 would be tough not having that opportunity to see those reps... So, [I] feel good about what kind of path we're on now."
It goes without saying, but Kupp returning to the lineup comes with a major sigh of relief for the Rams. He is far and away their best offensive weapon, with the receivers behind him mostly being unproven.
After a historic 2021 season, Kupp had 75 receptions for 812 yards and six touchdowns in nine games last season.
While not as dominant as the year before, Kupp still had a strong showing in 2022 with just over 90 receiving yards per game. Unfortunately for him and the Rams, a sprained ankle that required surgery ended his season halfway through.
Injuries played a huge part in the Rams' struggles last season, and Kupp's was one of the most devastating.
But with Kupp back, hopefully, for good, the Rams can rest easy knowing Matthew Stafford's top target will be on the field iWeek 1.
