Los Angeles Gets Challenger To Host Super Bowl LXI
The Los Angeles Rams may not be hosting Super Bowl LXI after all.
During the CAA World Congress of Sports on April 19th, Rams COO Kevin Demoff announced that the team plans to submit an offer to host Super Bowl LXI in February 2027. The bid comes just one year after the Rams won the Super Bowl held at their home field, SoFi Stadium.
Since opening in 2020, SoFi Stadium has served as the venue for numerous notable sporting events. Notably, the $5 billion stadium successfully hosted Super Bowl LVI and the prestigious 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Nonetheless, according to a recent report by Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post, there is a growing sense of "optimism" that South Florida will be granted the opportunity to host the Super Bowl, despite a recent effort by Los Angeles and SoFi Stadium to secure the event.
Rodney Barreto, a longstanding chairman of the Super Bowl Bid Committees in South Florida, expressed a strong aspiration to bring the NFL's premier event back to Miami.
"We obviously want to get a game back to Miami," Barreto told Habib. "We believe we had a very successful last Super Bowl, and the world shut down after that Super Bowl. We had it in Tampa the next year, and it wasn't the same."
Miami holds the record for the most Super Bowls hosted by any city, having successfully hosted the prestigious event 11 times. The most recent Super Bowl held at Hard Rock Stadium was in February 2020, where the Kansas City Chiefs secured a triumphant 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Regardless of the location, Miami and Los Angeles can host an incredible Super Bowl experience irrespective of the chosen city.
