Tyler Higbee A Full Participant, Tutu Atwell Returns To Los Angeles Rams Practice

Two Los Angeles Rams pass-catchers saw their status increase for Thursday's practice.

The Los Angeles Rams received some positive injury updates on Thursday as a home showdown with the Washington Commanders on Sunday draws closer.

A pair of pass-catchers saw their status improve on Thursday, as tight end Tyler Higbee was a full participant and receiver Tutu Atwell returned to practice.

Higbee missed Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens with a neck injury, but the veteran tight end has been banged up for a few weeks now. Rams coach Sean McVay said early last month that Higbee was "fighting through a lot of stuff" and specifically pointed out an issue with his right thumb. However, it seems like Higbee, who turns 31 on New Year's Day, is trending in the right direction for the Commanders game.

Higbee celebrates a touchdown during a Christmas Day game against the Denver Broncos last year.

“Hopefully we’ll get Tyler back this week. That’s the expectation. That’s the goal,” McVay said. “Still have Brycen Hopkins who has done a lot of good things for us as well. We’ll take it a day at a time. We’re kind of just now in the last couple hours just getting all this information and then you start to sort through your plans accordingly.”

Higbee, who the Rams signed to an extension earlier this season, has 34 receptions for 367 yards and two touchdowns on the year.

Meanwhile, Atwell is battling through a concussion he suffered early in the Ravens game. The former second-round pick out of Louisville is having somewhat of a breakout year, catching 37 passes for 476 yards and three touchdowns as the third option behind Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
