Rams CB Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson Receives Endorsement From Jalen Ramsey
Coming into the 2023 NFL Draft, cornerback was one of the Los Angeles Rams' biggest needs. They traded away three-time All-Pro Jalen Ramsey earlier in the offseason, leaving them with almost no starting experience at the position.
Some expected the Rams to load up on corners during the draft, but they only picked one. However, they have high hopes for the one corner they picked, that being TCU's Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, nephew of NFL legend LaDainian Tomlinson, at No. 182 overall.
Hodges-Tomlinson's college production has never been in question, as he's a three-time All-Big 12 selection and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's best defensive back in 2022. Instead, the knock against him was his small size at just 5-8 and 178 pounds. However, Hodges-Tomlinson has proved his doubters wrong throughout his life and is eager to continue doing so with his new team.
"People just degrade me, and even though I've done as much as I've done in this game of football and continue to prove others wrong, it seems to still go over others' heads," Hodges-Tomlinson said. "The Rams, they believe in me and they chose to make the pick, so I'm gonna be sure that this pick here is gonna be one of the greatest picks they've ever had."
Despite the critics, Hodges-Tomlinson still has plenty of fans, including Ramsey himself. The former Ram and current Miami Dolphin tweeted his support for Hodges-Tomlinson soon after L.A. drafted the rookie on Saturday. Hodges-Tomlinson then responded with a showing of appreciation.
It's a small gesture, but shows that Ramsey is still looking out for his former team. Now, the Rams hope that Hodges-Tomlinson can be their next star cornerback and heir to Ramsey in time.
