Could Rams RB Zach Evans Make NFL All-Rookie Team?
Los Angeles Rams rookie running back Zach Evans has been generating buzz this offseason despite being a sixth-round pick. Although currently positioned as the fourth option on the depth chart, there is speculation that Evans could have a notable impact during his rookie season.
NFL.com's projection of their All-Rookie Team for 2023 includes the Ole Miss product, further fueling the hype surrounding him. While it is typically challenging to predict which rookies will make an immediate impact in their first year, NFL.com acknowledges that Evans has the potential to establish himself with a solid role in Los Angeles.
"Cam Akers has definitely experienced ups and downs during his career with the Rams. If injury or inconsistent play from Akers creates an opportunity for Evans, I expect the rookie sixth-rounder to attack rushing lanes with his powerful yet agile north-south running," NFL.com writes.
Out of the 11 offensive players projected by NFL.com to make the All-Rookie Team, a significant majority were first-round picks. Interestingly, Evans stands out as the lowest-drafted player by a considerable margin, with the next-closest being Anthony Bradford, a fourth-round selection by the Seattle Seahawks,
In his quest for carries, Evans faces competition not only from Akers but also from Kyren Williams and Sony Michel. This competition is why Evans currently finds himself positioned as the fourth option on the depth chart as the Rams prepare for training camp. Nevertheless, Evans has ample time to climb the ranks and potentially secure a higher spot on the depth chart.
