'Positive Spirit!' Rams Coach Sean McVay Gives Humorous Response to Red Zone Struggles vs. Washington
It's no secret that Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay wasn't pleased with himself when his team entered the red zone on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, but that's no reason to miss out on some fun, right?
McVay was vocal about his team's struggles in the red zone on Monday during media availability, and he shouldered most of that blame himself, saying that he will never shy away from times that he "can be better" in his job. Later in the press conference, however, a reporter brought up the fact that, even though the Rams have had to settle for some field goal attempts in recent weeks, they lead the league in coming away with points once they enter the red zone, whether its three or six.
McVay, always one to be quick on his feet in media settings, was relieved to finally have some positive momentum in the red zone narrative in the press setting.
"There it is!" McVay said. "There's a positive spirit."
McVay 'Really Pissed Off!' Over Decision
It's easier to make light of certain scenarios following wins, after all, and that's what Los Angeles was able to secure on Sunday in a 28-20 decision against the Commanders. That win helped keep the Rams in good standing within the NFC playoff picture, currently holding the No. 7 seed in the conference, if the season ended today.
It's a quick turnaround for McVay's Rams this week, however, as they host the New Orleans Saints on "Thursday Night Football" in a game that will go a long way in dictating the wild card race in the NFC. Kickoff is slated for 5:15 p.m. PT, and the game will be televised on Prime Video.
