Crooked Fingers: Rob Havenstein Among Injured at Rams Practice

The Los Angeles Rams are optimistic that offensive linemen Rob Havenstein and Logan Bruss won't miss any time.

The Los Angeles Rams were without offensive linemen Rob Havenstein and Logan Bruss for parts of practice on Thursday, adding to their injury scares up front.

Havenstein, the starting right tackle, went down early during Los Angeles’ joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was eventually able to walk off the field on his own. Though he did not return, head coach Sean McVay was quick to address the situation.

“I think he’s OK,” McVay said, speaking after practice. “I was just talking to him before I came out here. Just a little stinger in his neck is what the early prognosis is.”

Havenstein is critical to the performance of the offensive line. In 2022, he played in all 17 games and earned the highest grade of any Rams lineman, per Pro Football Focus. His 73.2 grade trailed only Cooper Kupp and Cam Akers on Los Angeles’ offense.

Thankfully, he seems to be fine for Week 1.

If Havenstein were to miss time, it is possible that Bruss would have been his replacement. The second-year lineman suffered a hand injury on Thursday. According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, Bruss’ hand “had some fingers on it not facing the right way.”

He would soon return to the practice field with re-taped hands. Fans can rest assured that the team’s lack of comment on the incident likely means he is good to go for Saturday’s preseason matchup with the Raiders.

By some accounts, Bruss struggled in last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Still, with so much uncertainty in the trenches, staying healthy and seeing more live reps will be crucial to give the Rams as many options as possible.
