Rams Were 'Hoping To Land' Buccaneers Star Free Agent Receiver Mike Evans

According to reports, the Los Angeles Rams were set to attempt a big free-agency move later this month.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams want to make a splash in free agency and the NFL Draft this offseason, as they attempt to reload their roster and challenge for the NFC West title.

Of course, one way to do that would be to give star quarterback Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay even more offensive firepower to work with.

And according to reports from The Athletic's Diana Rusinni, they were getting ready to attempt to do just that and pursue Buccaneers star receiver Mike Evans.

"Multiple teams had Mike Evans on their free agent WR board and were hoping to land him in free agency," said Russini on X. "Based on several team sources: Titans, Rams, Chiefs, Patriots, Giants, Panthers, Falcons, and Jaguars."

Evans, of course, agreed to a two-year, $52 million deal with $35 million to stay in Tampa Bay on Monday morning, surely breaking the hearts of all the teams interested in acquiring his talents.

After all, Evans is by far the most prolific receiver in Buccaneers history, generating 10 1,000-plus-yard receiving seasons since being drafted, a record for a receiver to start a career.

Xavier Worthy is 'Fastest Human I've Ever Evaluated!', Says Les Snead; Rams Interested?

Evans' 11,680 total receiving yards are 4,990 more than the next-closest Buc all-time (Chris Godwin, 6,690), and his 94 touchdown catches are 60 more than No. 2 (Godwin, 34). Meanwhile, last season, Evans finished with 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns.

And while the idea of Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua and Mike Evans all lining up on the field together for L.A. was surely a tantalizing idea for Rams fans, the franchise must now look elsewhere - whether it be in free agency or the upcoming NFL Draft - if they want to add another receiving weapon.
