'Angry Birds' Baltimore Ravens, LB Roquan Smith Issue 'Pissed Off' Warning to Seattle Seahawks
The Baltimore Ravens may have won Sunday's game over the Arizona Cardinals, but make no mistake. ... They were not pleased with their performance.
The Ravens led the game 24-7 at one point before having to hold on for a 31-24 lead against Arizona, and now as the team prepares to face the Seattle Seahawks this week, Baltimore linebacker Roquan Smith is warning the competition that they will meet a fierce opponent this weekend, one with a chip on its shoulder.
“We’re some angry birds over this way, so we’re gonna definitely express that on Sunday,” Smith said on The Vault: A Daily Ravens Podcast. “We’re pissed off about how this last game played out. … We have to defend our turf by any means necessary.”
Smith himself registered 11 tackles in the Ravens' win, but the offense put up just 268 yards on the afternoon in spite of the Cardinals fielding the No. 26 defense in the NFL. Smith's defense also gave up 17 fourth-quarter points, making a game that had originally seemed to be in-hand cast in doubt late.
On the season, Smith now has 82 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and five passes defended. He spent the first few years of his career with the team that drafted him, the Chicago Bears, before making his way to Baltimore where he has continued to gain headlines for his performances. Last season, he reached the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.
Can Smith and the Ravens "defend their turf" against Seattle this week? Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on CBS.
