NFL veteran and free agent Kyle Van Noy visited with and this week signed with the Baltimore Ravens for a second time, as the team searches for more depth at the linebacker position. But on Saturday, another move forward, as he vaults from the practice squad to the 53-man roster with a new deal.

Van Noy played for the Los Angeles Chargers last year, appearing in all 17 games and registering 46 tackles, 5.0 sacks and eight tackles for loss. He's been in the NFL for nine seasons, playing for four different teams: the Chargers, the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots and the Detroit Lions.

For his career, Van Noy has accumulated 470 tackles, 33.5 sacks and 47 tackles for loss and 10 forced fumbles. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning with the Patriots in 2016 against the Atlanta Falcons and 2018 against the Los Angeles Rams.

He was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of BYU, but wasn't able to stick in Detroit as he was underperforming. The best years of his career came under legendary head coach Bill Belichick in New England.

The Ravens are a bit top heavy at linebacker at the moment, with star Roquan Smith and his defensive partner Patrick Queen leading the way. Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo and Tyus Bowser all currently carry an injury designation of some kind.

Garafolo said that it is likely that a deal of some sort gets done, given that it is Van Noy's second visit and the current state of the linebacker room in Baltimore.

Next up for the Ravens is a matchup on the road against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m., a chance to bounce back after a crushing overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts
