OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Is Dave Canales the front-runner to become the Ravens' next offensive coordinator?

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback coach has earned a second interview with Baltimore coach John Harbaugh.

Canales, 41, played a key role in revitalizing the career of quarterback Geno Smith in Seattle.

Smith earned his trip to the Pro Bowl after spending his first seven seasons in the NFL primarily as a backup. Smith threw for 4,282 yards with 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for a 100.9 quarterback rating.

Perhaps Canales can have the same impact on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has regressed each year since being named NFL MVP in 2019.

The Ravens also want to revamp a passing attack that languished under former offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Canales not only helped Smith's career, but he also helped the team's young wide receivers.

Tyler Lockett became the second player in franchise history (Steve Largent) to post four consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. In 2021, fellow wide receiver DK Metcalf led Seattle with 12 touchdown receptions, fourth in the NFL and tied for third-most in a single season in team history.

The Ravens did not have a wide receiver ranked in the top 75 for receptions or yards this past season.

Canales served as Seattle's quarterbacks coach in 2022 after two seasons as the team's offensive passing game coordinator, two years as the team's quarterbacks coach, and three years as the wide receivers coach.

In addition to Canales, the Ravens will also interview Bills wide receivers coach Chad Hall, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler
