'We All Want To Improve!' Baltimore Ravens Defense Keeps Getting Better Says LB Patrick Queen

Despite having one of the best statistical defenses in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens are still trying to find ways to improve.

The Baltimore Ravens have had one of the best defenses in the league this season, but that doesn't stop them from wanting to get better and more dominant each game.

In a 37-31 overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams, the Ravens gave up 128 rushing yards and had trouble stopping running back Kyren Williams at times. Baltimore is giving up 104.2 rushing yards per game which ranks 12th in the NFL. While the run defense numbers aren't necessarily bad, there is still room for improvement.

"We're looking at every way to improve that," Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen said. "Honestly, it just comes down to every man owning their gap and doing the best they can. Sometimes, they have numbers on you, and somebody just has to go make a play. You have to take two gaps. We're looking at ways to improve that. Internally – player-wise – we all want to improve on that. One of us might have to go the extra mile to make a play, so if that's what we have to do, we'll go do it."

Queen makes up half of Baltimore's dynamic linebacker duo, with Roquan Smith flying all over the field this year. Queen sits at 14th in the NFL in total tackles with 108 while Smith is tied for third with 136 tackles.

The two have combined for 13 tackles for loss, 10 passes defended, five sacks and two forced fumbles.

One thing that the Ravens' run defense does excel at is keeping opponents out of the end zone. This season, they have allowed just four rushing touchdowns which is the lowest mark in the league.

Still, Baltimore is allowing the 12th most yards per carry to its opponents at 4.3 and most of the dominance for the Ravens' defensive unit comes from the pass defense. Opponents are throwing for just 5.6 yards per pass attempt which is the lowest number for any defense this year.

Baltimore's defense could have its hands full on Sunday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars if Travis Etienne is good to go.
