Ravens Near Signing CB Arthur Maulet?

Looking to improve an already elite defense, the Baltimore Ravens are on the verge of bringing in cornerback Arthur Maulet.
In this story:

As the old adage goes, offense will win you games but defense is what wins you championships. Looking to follow that ideology, the Baltimore Ravens are nearing a deal with veteran cornerback Arthur Maulet to bolster their secondary and strengthen the defense.

Maulet spent the last two seasons with the Ravens' AFC North foes the Pittsburgh Steelers, emerging as a cornerback who can play well covering the slot. Not only that but he has shown that he can be a thumper, not hesitating to come downhill and meet the ball-carrier.

Last season was a true breakout year for Maulet, recording a career-high 59 tackles and two sacks as well as a pair of tackles for loss. He also was strong in coverage, snagging an interception, recording 12 passes defended and forcing a fumble.

Should the Ravens sign the veteran corner, he would be joining a secondary that suffocated opponents in 2022. The Ravens boasted the third-ranked scoring defense last season, holding opponents to 18.5 points per game on 324.3 yards of total offense.

They were especially dominant against the pass, allowing only 232.2 yards per game through the air. With Marcus Peters signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, this move could make sense for Baltimore.

A potential signing of Maulet might not be the one move that gets the Ravens over the hump and back atop the NFL mountain. However, he would provide reliable depth in the secondary as well as veteran leadership to the younger guys as he helps their pursuit of a Super Bowl.
