Baltimore Ravens Hopeful That Marlon Humphrey Can Return Against Pittsburgh Steelers
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke about his hopes for star cornerback Marlon Humphrey to be ready for Week 5's road matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"He's in the range, so I'm hopeful he'll get back this week," Harbaugh said. "I was hopeful he'd get back last week, and if it's not this week, it will probably be next week. He's in the range right now, right in the area right now. So we'll see what happens."
Humphrey has been absent from the Ravens' first four games of the season, missing time due to a foot injury that he suffered during training camp which required surgery. Originally, the hope was that he'd at least be ready by Week 3, but the injury has taken longer to rehab than expected.
He is one of the most valuable players on Baltimore's defense. In six seasons, he has 12 interceptions, 13 forced fumbles and 5.5 sacks. He is part of an exclusive group of Ravens to have 10+ forced fumbles and 10+ interceptions, along with Hall of Famers Ed Reed and Ray Lewis. At just 27 years old, Humphrey has already been named to three Pro Bowls and one First Team All-Pro.
Baltimore has been thriving despite missing Humphrey, starting the season 3-1 with its only loss coming in a close overtime game to the Indianapolis Colts. The Ravens sit atop the AFC North after defeating the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals already this season.
Their matchup with the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. will give them a chance to cement their place as favorites in the AFC North.
