Ravens Coach Harbaugh 'Anxious' For Week 1 vs. Texans
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh talked about the feelings he had about Week 1 against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
"I'm anxious to see the team, that's the anybody I'm anxious to see is the team," Harbaugh said. "And all the parts of the team that are gonna be out there playing, trying to do their best. Everybody wants to play very well, very much and we're gonna try to do our best."
Since Harbaugh was named head coach in Baltimore in 2008, the Ravens have gone 11-4 in season openers and have won six of their last seven Week 1 games. While he did lead the franchise to its second Super Bowl victory ever when they beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII, Baltimore has struggled recently in playoff success.
The Ravens have only won one playoff game since after the 2014 NFL season in four playoff appearances. With the last pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the franchise found its savior in superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson.
While Jackson has shown extreme talent and poise, winning a unanimous MVP in 2019, the positions around him have been lacking in skill at times. Finally, this season with the additions of players like Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers, it feels like Baltimore's front office has finally built a worthy contender around Jackson.
The Ravens will begin their quest for success this season starting on Sept. 10 when they play hosts to the Houston Texans at 1 p.m.
